About New Zealand by Campervan
My name is Mark Perkins, the author and webmaster of New Zealand by Campervan.
This web site and blog is intended to aid those who are planning to travel to New Zealand and want to tour the country either by Campervan or self-drive car. It is also intended for “Kiwis” (New Zealanders) wanting to explore more of their own country.
My intention is to give information and help you might need to have a fantastic holiday, I’m passionate about New Zealand and seeing it’s beauty.
The big trend today in touring or traveling through other countries, is to do self-drive tours. The traditional organised group tours are very much becoming a thing of the past. The modern traveller has become very street savvy and there’s a the wealth of information on the internet now, which has previously never been available.

I have spent several years in the tourism industry as a Tour Coach Driver/Guide and I am also a very keen “Movaner” (campervan, motorhome, RV owner and traveler).
To this end I have tried to cover every aspect of travelling through Aotearoa (The land of the long white cloud, New Zealand) for self-drivers either by car or Campervan. Especially for campervaners, as I concentrate on camp grounds and things that are more focussed towards campervaning. This doesn’t mean there is not much for the car driving, hotel staying traveller, quite the contrary.
One feature I have tried to include where possible, especially in the “Places to visit” posts, is “How to Get There” “What’s There” and the, all-important, GPS co-ordinates, as so many of us use GPS’s to find our way around today.
When it comes to the Places to visit and things to do posts, I will not only include the main tourist “must do’s” but also include some of the off the beaten track places and activities.
I hope you find the information you are looking for and that it is helpful to you.
PLEASE be sure to leave comments where available and do not hesitate to contact me directly via the Contact page.
If you are planning, on, or have been on, a Campervan Holiday in New Zealand be sure to tell me all about it, I truly would love to hear from you.
Mark
